Carr often speaks how we cheat ourselves with
knowledge. Google has introduced something called Google Books. This allows one
to search any book, after you search the book you are able to search words or
phrases and Google will bring you directly to the pages that word or phrases is
located. I do think this is a great help and makes writing papers much easier. If
you are looking for specific keywords used in the book you type it in the small
search bar on the left hand side. After clicking search it brings you to every
page that has that specific word and bolds the word for you. Instead of
flipping through the entire book trying to remember what page a quote is on you
are brought directly to it, it saves a significant amount of time. One is able
to access books freely and possibly be able to download that book. The only
problem I see with this is that one does not really have to read the entire
book. If you are writing a paper you could simply use Google books to find
summaries or keywords that you need. With Google Books you are almost cheating
yourself out of knowledge. You do not have to force your brain to memorize the
contents of the book. I cannot decide whether Google Books is more helpful or
hurtful to us.

I agree with you because there are pros and cons to both sides. While it makes projects easier it definitely disrupts the learning process.
