Welcome to our blog for College Writing II at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. This blog will feature posts by various writing students who are working with the UMass Lowell First-Year Writing Program’s Common Text for Spring 2012, Nicholas Carr’s The Shallows: What the Internet Is Doing to Our Brains. The Shallows presents Carr’s research findings and makes controversial arguments about the impact of internet usage on the brain. These students will offer their thoughts on The Shallows in a variety of forms, arguing for or against Carr’s points, narrating true stories about internet usage that relate to the book, and commenting further on our class discussions of the book. If you are a student in one of my College Writing II sections, a student in another section of College Writing II, or any person who is interested in internet usage and its impact on our brains, please feel free to read these posts and leave a comment.
